Trinity Chequered Flannel Combat Trousers are loud in the right way, with a navy, green, red, yellow, cyan and white check running across the brushed cotton flannel.

They’re handmade using traditional Nepalese methods and have a soft finish that suits lounging about, festivals and raves better than anything requiring a tie. Both Large and XL have a drawstring waist, stretching from around 30 to 46 inches, so there’s room to set the fit where you want it. Large has an inseam of around 74cm; XL is around 78cm.

The check is busy, the fabric is soft, and the adjustable waist makes these easier to wear than trousers with a fixed waistband. Pick Large or XL according to the leg length that works best for you.

These are properly chequered, not the sort of pattern that disappears once you’re more than three feet away. The brushed cotton flannel is soft, and the drawstring waist is a sensible touch when a fixed waistband would be a nuisance. Large and XL both have plenty of stretch at the waist, so the inseam is the main thing to check before choosing.
