A small hand-finished batik wall hanging showing the Buddha in the Bhumisparsa Mudra, with one hand resting in the lap and the fingertips of the other touching the ground. The gesture is also known as ‘taking the Earth as witness’.

This is a decent-sized batik for the ‘Small’ version, so do check the 82cm x 56cm measurement rather than expecting a little postcard-sized thing. I like the Bhumisparsa pose here: it’s recognisable Buddha artwork without being too fussy. The hand finishing means the odd variation is normal, and the choice of five colours makes it easier to pick one that won’t argue with your walls.
