Batik Wall Hangings
Our batik collection includes more than 40 colourful designs featuring figures and imagery drawn from Hindu and Buddhist traditions, alongside a smaller selection of other designs. The range includes Shiva, Ganesha, Buddha, Krishna, Saraswati, Kali, Laxmi, Tara and Hanuman, with several subjects available in different poses, scenes and sizes.
If you're looking for a particular figure, the product names make it easier to compare the different designs. Our Shiva batiks, for example, include Shiva Nataraj, Shiva in Lotus and Shiva on Tiger Skin, while the Ganesha collection includes several different depictions including Ganesha with Modakam and Ganesha on a mouse-drawn carriage.
Hindu & Buddhist Batik Designs
Many of the designs depict recognisable religious figures and traditional imagery. Shiva Nataraj depicts Shiva in his dancing form, while other pieces show figures including Krishna, Saraswati, Kali and Laxmi. The Buddhist designs include the Buddha meditating, beneath the Bodhi Tree and preaching his first sermon, alongside other Buddha and Tara designs.
These aren't interchangeable decorative characters, so we've kept the individual names and subjects wherever they are known rather than grouping everything under a generic 'spiritual' label. Check the individual product page for the specific design, dimensions and other confirmed information before ordering.
Choosing a Batik
Start with the design you like and then check its actual dimensions. The collection includes both small and large batiks, but measurements can vary between products, so it's better to use the confirmed dimensions on the individual listing rather than relying on the size name alone.
Several subjects appear in more than one design, giving you a choice without having to switch to a completely different theme. There are also Che Guevara batiks for customers looking for something outside the Hindu and Buddhist designs that make up most of the collection.
Shiva Experience is an independent UK retailer. We aim to identify the subject of each batik accurately and provide confirmed product details where they're available, without inventing meanings, materials, origins or spiritual effects that haven't been established for the individual product.
