Product description
A detailed Buddha statuette in the Bhumisparsha Mudra, with a raised leaf backing and a wooden base. The gesture is also known as ‘calling the earth to witness’, shown here with one hand reaching towards the ground.
It is made from resin and finished in burnished green and bronze tones for an aged, antique-style look. At 265mm long, 125mm wide and 55mm deep, it has enough presence for a shelf, mantelpiece or a dedicated corner alongside incense and other decorative pieces, without taking over the whole room.
The leaf backdrop gives the seated figure a fuller silhouette than a plain small Buddha ornament. A solid-looking decorative piece for someone who likes Buddhist imagery and slightly old-world homeware.
Paul says
This is a proper shelf piece rather than a tiny token Buddha. The leaf backing makes it look more substantial, and the green-and-bronze finish has an aged look without pretending it has been dug out of anywhere. The Bhumisparsha hand position is a nice bit of detail for people who know their Buddhist imagery, but it also simply looks good among incense burners and odd bits of homeware.
