A hand-carved soapstone ashtray with floral and leaf-vine detailing, made in India. It has a properly weighty feel, so it is less likely to feel flimsy when left out on a smoking table or by an open window.

These have a proper bit of weight to them, which is what you want from an ashtray that is going to live on a table rather than disappear into a drawer. The carved leaf and floral pattern gives each one more going on than a plain tray. Just bear in mind that soapstone varies, so the grey, yellow or greenish shade is part of the deal.
